Jennifer Farmer, RN, NRP

Jennifer Farmer is a nationally recognized EMS and pediatric care leader who serves as the Pediatric Champion for Lakeside Volunteer Rescue Squad. In 2023, she was honored with the Virginia Governor’s EMS Award for Outstanding Contribution to EMS for Children in recognition of her exceptional dedication to pediatric emergency care.
A registered nurse and paramedic, Jennifer currently serves as the Director of Nursing for Long-Term Care at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU Brook Road Pavilion. In this role, she brings extensive clinical expertise and leadership experience to the care of medically complex pediatric patients.
Jennifer is an active member of the State EMS for Children Committee’s Pediatric Champion Workgroup, where she collaborates with regional and statewide partners to strengthen pediatric EMS systems and improve outcomes for children in emergency settings.
Within her agency, Jennifer has spearheaded neonatal and pediatric training initiatives and organized community outreach programs, including a Community Car Seat Check event, to promote child safety and injury prevention. Her commitment to education and quality improvement has strengthened pediatric readiness throughout her organization.
Jennifer’s dedication to service has earned her numerous honors with Lakeside Volunteer Rescue Squad, including Member of the Year and multiple Presidential Volunteer Service Awards. Through her leadership, mentorship, and advocacy, she continues to advance excellence in pediatric emergency care across Virginia.
